Community link building: topical relevance made easy

The image shows a group of people forming a semicircle around three MASSIVE links of a short chain with various indicators of "internet" document types.

Effective link building takes effort, such that some companies devote full time staff to the effort. The most common tactic is email outreach, which works, but its a numbers game. And outreach is time consuming.

I saw a post on LinkedIn where someone claimed for their link building efforts, they average 10,000 outbound emails every month. That’s over 3,300 a day, every day.

Community link building is a “low hanging fruit” link building tactic we are creating. It does not replace other tactics, but rather augments them.

And due to how it works, obtaining topically relevant links becomes almost effortless.

Building topically relevant links is hard. We make it easy.

Your posts need outbound links

Research shows that pages with well-placed outbound links often rank higher.

The SaaS platform and community this post describes has been built to capitalize on that reality.

The core idea is that you first look for link targets within the community.

The community is a mini search engine where you submit the URLs of your desired link targets, then search for link targets within the community as you’re writing posts.

As you link to the URLs of others, your URLs become more visible within the community.

Which leads to others linking to them.

How do we ensure content quality?

Manual inspection of every URL. Seriously.

People don’t join the community, they apply.

With their application, they submit/promote three URLs.

Those URLs are reviewed by a person for compliance to Google EEAT. Applicants are instructed to NOT submit URLs of landing pages or home pages.

The blog post linked to below explains why.

You do NOT want backlinks to your landing pages!

Each URL is reviewed and either accepted or rejected. When a URL is rejected, the applicant is invited to submit/promote a replacement. When an applicant submits three good URLs before they submit five bad ones, their application is approved.

Even after an applicant becomes a member, every URL submitted is reviewed by a person and individually accepted or rejected.

By manually inspecting every URL, we’ve prescreened posts for quality, so you can focus on topical relevance.

It’s also free, for early adopters

It’s a network effect platform, and as such has value when there is an active community.

To this end, we are seeding the community with free (forever) memberships.

Later, once the community is very active, we will charge others to join us.

But as an early adopter, you can secure a free membership. And as the community grows, your free membership will provide you with greater and greater value.
