Make it easy for your website visitors to contact you

Local SEO Marketing | Site Optimization | Contact Us Form

Have you ever been on a the website of a business, had a real interest in their products and services, then had trouble finding how to contact them? I have.

If your local SEO marketing efforts are to attract more prospects to your business, you need a way for them to contact you.

Why would any business make it hard for a web users to find out to contact them? There is only one reason and it is because they are stupid.

Not only do you need a Contact Us form, you need it to be displayed on every page of the website.

This article is part of a series about local SEO marketing. For access to all the articles in the series, click on the link in the prior sentence.

I strongly recommend the following:

  • Create a Contact Us form in a widget that can be displayed at the top of a sidebar.
  • Create another Contact Us form in a page that contains nothing else and is addressable via a URL.
  • Ask for very little information. The image at the top of the post is perfect. Depending on what type of business you run, it may be appropriate to ask for a phone number as well, but NEVER ask for more than those five fields.
    • When you send someone to a Contact Us form that has 14 fields, people exit your website without filling it out.
      • DON’T DO THAT!

Then:

  • Display the sidebar form in the sidebar such that it is seen no matter what page of the website is being viewed.
  • Use the other on at the bottom of each article to encourage people to contact you if they have any questions or need more information.

When you want people to do business with you, be easy to do business with.

This is one simple point that some business owners don’t get.

And if I may add: Reply to inquiries PROMPTLY.

Nothing turns off a customer more than a non-responsive business owner.
