In previous articles I’ve spoken about the importance of keyword research within your local SEO marketing effort. In this article I describe the two keyword research tools I use.
I use one free tool and one tool I bought.
Googe Adwords, Contextual Targeting Tool
The free tool is Googe Adwords, Contextual Targeting Tool. If you do not currently have an adwords account, get one, they’re free.
You access this tool from the following menus once within your adwords account: Tools and Analysis -> Contextual Targeting Tool.
This article is part of a series about local SEO marketing. For access to all the articles in the series, click on the link in the prior sentence.
For those of you who remember the Google Wonder Wheel, I’ve been told this is the same data, displayed differently. Get your free account, learn how to generate keyword phrase lists via the tool and learn how to export them to a CSV file.
You’ll need that CSV file to be the input to the second tool.
I believe the list price of Market Samurai is $149and I’ve heard they will soon start charging a monthly fee for the rank tracking portion of their took, but this tool is such a joy to use.
Prior to owning this tool, I would run this, and run that, and keep notes on paper, and literally spend hours gleaning useful information, but not great information.
With this tool, I now do in minutes what used to take hours and I have a level of detail I didn’t even know to dream about earlier.
Get this tool, watch their training videos, learn how to use it, and do MUCH more focused and accurate keyword research as a result.
HINT: Sign up for the free trial. Do not buy at $149. On the last day of your free trial you should receive an email telling that TODAY ONLY the cost is $97. Buy it then.
