AIDA Sales Funnel and Local SEO Marketing

It’s almost as if local SEO marketing was made to fit the AIDA sales funnel.

The AIDA sales funnel was first described in 1898 and it describes the steps in attracting prospects and their initiating contact with you regarding your products or services.

The letters stand for:

A: Awareness

I: Interest

D: Desire

A: Action

What you want is the Action step. You want them to perhaps buy your product online (if you sell products online), or perhaps to contact you to discuss their needs with you (if you sell services or big ticket products).

  • You made it easy to be found by people interested in your product or service by having published large amounts of content to your website, in small doses, at frequent intervals.
  • Your website now attracts “your audience” of people who go online enter search terms related to the content that is published on your website.
  • Your website does not attract people who are not your audience.

As a result of the above, by the time you meet your prospect, the initial steps of Awareness, Interest, and Desire have already happened. By the time you meet them they have already taken action (which is to contact you),

You still have to convince them you are the best source to buy your product or service, but you do NOT have to convince them that the product or service has value. They’re already convinced.
