Today’s Inbound Marketing Minute addresses a comment that was made to me twice last week by two separate people.
The comment they made was… they only want people on their website who fit their buyers persona and who are likely to buy from them.
The purpose of this video is to explain why that’s not true.
You want people on your website who will NOT buy from you because that will help attract more people who will.
Websites that are known more and websites that are busier tend to rank higher in organic search and tend to attract more visitors through organic search.
So if your business niche is… um… let’s use for example you make accessories for dogs.
You want to turn your website into an online magazine not just for people who own dogs, but for people who own pets.
You want to have articles in there about…. Oh I don’t know, little furry mammals with young children… cats, maybe hamsters, ferrets, I don’t know.
And… um… by virtue of attracting more people who are not dog lovers, you’ll increase the overall level of activity and the degree to which your website is known, and through that process you will attract more people who are dog lovers, and who do have a potential interest in your products.
