Anyone who told you otherwise is either lying or at one time was extremely lucky in ranking for a non competitive term and wants to promote to others how easy it is.

On average, in all disciplines, becoming an overnight success takes 5 to 8 years or continuous effort. This was true of the Beatles, Microsoft, Bradley Cooper, and most startup businesses.

Winning, at SEO as with almost everything else, requires perseverance.
