Yes and no. Your content MUST provide answers, and also MUST suggest they contact you for more answers, and your content must imply there is a benefit to working with you. Being completely non promotional will cost you leads, but being overly promotional will as well. It’s a question of balance.

This is a specific on which I differ. I do not covet social shares. I covet leads. Social sharing is not bad per se, but when someone contacts you for more information, you have a prospect who has an interest in your products or services. When someone shares one of your posts via a social media network site (Facebook for example) your message is spread a little farther, which is in and of itself not a bad thing, even though it is not a lead per se.
