inbound marketing, blog posts, engagement through questions

Improve Conversion by Asking for Engagement for Blog Posts and Email Blasts

Engagement is not “Created”

However engagement can be encouraged. By asking questions.

There are many reasons to ask questions in your blog posts and your email messages:

  • To cause people to think
  • To encourage people to leave a comment
  • To encourage people to read something else (an email would encourage someone to read a blog post whereas a blog post might encourage someone to read another post or watch a video)

Cause People to Think

When you’re trying to make a point, encourage people to figure it out by themselves.

As an example, in an email I sent recently I made the statement that there is a growing divide between SEO “haves” and “have nots” because as the Internet gets more crowded, overtaking your competition in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) requires more effort and more cost.

I stated “Wall St. Can Afford This. What Does Main St. Do? where the question was a link intended to take someone to a blog post that further expanded upon the idea.

This accomplishes two main things:

  • Every website update is good for SEO. The more often your website is updated, the higher it ranks.
  • It allows you to know what a real person is thinking.

Encourages Taking Action

The example above under causing people to think is also a good example of encouraging people to take action. If the question peaks your interest and you would like to know more, you’ll click the link.
