If blogging is a viable career option, you know it's come into it's own and is useful for marketing.

If Blogging is a Valid Career Choice, It’s Valid Marketing

Do you believe a recent survey of young British people (18 to 25 year olds) who were asked to identify their top career choices selected “blogging” more than any other answer.

They believe they can make 8,500 pounds a month blogging. They think so because some people do.

To me, this validates the idea of blogging as marketing.

Perhaps you’ve heard the term Inbound Marketing, Content Marketing, or Search Engine Optimization.

The core activity of all of the above is blogging. We just don’t cal it that because it doesn’t sound professional enough.

We create terms such as Brand Journalism (which is a contradiction in it’s own right), Brand Publishing, and the terms used above.

This core activity is finding story ideas, and publishing a steady stream of fresh and interesting content at frequent intervals. Preferably multiple times a day.

When you do this properly (and yes there are improper ways of doing this) you get the attention of the search engines which bring you your audience via organic search traffic.

How you monetize this depends upon your business model.

Many financially successful blogs (and many that are not) sell advertising. This is the standard way to make money publishing that we’ve been doing for decades.

You can also use your blog to generate leads for your business. This is the marketing aspect of it.

Think of your website as an online magazine catering to a certain demographic, with only on advertiser, and that advertiser is your business.
