Why Hummingbird is so Important to Your Local SEO Marketing Efforts

If you pay attention to Google search algorithm updates, you’ve surely heard of Hummingbird.

Although I hate this phrase (because it’s so overused), Hummingbird truly is a game changer.

What hummingbird does is shift our focus from keyword phrases to topics and concepts.

Every see on StarTrek how they query the computers via English language sentences and context is not lost during the conversion? If one question is “How many class M plants are within a two day radius?” and the next question is “Which one has the most water?” the computer knows the second question relates to the first. It’s not a new query, both questions are part of one query.

Hummingbird is a (small) step in that direction.

This is fundamentally correct and I for one am very happy this update arrived (finally!). helps you generate quality leads for your business through your website.

Being able to “stuff” a page or website full of keyword phrases still provides some benefits, but the benefit has diminished.

What does this mean for you and your local SEO marketing efforts (did you notice how I stuffed that phrase in?)?

You need to publish more and use a wider variety of language in doing so.
