increase google ranking, seo, inbound marketing, organic traffic visitors

How much of the current algorithm used by Google for ranking search results has been made publicly known?

I’ve heard some say “none”, but that is not true.

All patents are publicly available and Google has applied for and obtained many patents.

The most noteworthy of which is the first one, whose somewhat cryptic title is….

Method for node ranking in a linked database

In theory if you were to comb through each and every of their patent applications (as well as the ones issued to Lawrence Page prior to Google being formed) you would know what to do to rank your website in Google.

The problem is their algorithm has been enhanced above and beyond what is listed in their patents and those details are both important and private.

Their algorithm is now so large and complex I sometimes wonder if any single person inside Google even understands it or if they’ve created some form of Computer Aided Algorithm Development and Testing Tool as the human mind is too limited to even try to understand all the various pieces.

Having said all that, the patent titles that catch my eye (and I once did try to read the very first one) are:

Assigned to Lawrence Page…

Patent 6285999: Method for node ranking in a linked database (the PageRank algorithm – link is above)

Application 20090006207: Using Previous User Search Query To Target Advertisements

I’m not sure how you might use the information in these patents to increase your Google ranking and grow your organic traffic, but if you find anything great in there, please share.

In the meantime….
