Generating Leads through Inbound Marketing by Staying Motivated to Write

How do You Find Time to Write?

My students ask me this question often.

It’s the wrong question.

If you knew some simple habit would transform your business and your life you would find time to get it done, even if you knew the big payoff was months away. When your goal is to run a mile under 4 minutes, you train and prepare. When your goal is an endless stream of high quality leads, you should adopt that mind set, that attitude.

The question is really what does it take for your to understand the benefit, and even the benefit of the benefit.

For example, the benefit might be generate more leads, make more money. The benefit of the benefit might be to send your three kids to University.

If you knew that by spending 90 minutes a day (on average) doing the activities related to Inbound Marketing would send your three kids to college, you would find the time.

Although you’ve heard this before, you don’t find time to write, you make time. You prioritize.

What if You’re Not a Great Writer?

Just start. Initially your writing is going to suck. This is true for everyone. It was even true for Ernest Hemmingway, Douglass Adams, and Robert Louis Stephenson. Don’t let it bother you. Just write, schedule, and publish. Then do it again. What’s important is not the quality of your initial writing (but don’t write total crap) but finding your rhythm.

The way to learn to run well is to run more. The way to learn to write well is to write.
