I love this quote by Chris Brogan, the Founder of New Marketing Labs:

No matter what, the very first piece of social media real estate I’d start with is a blog.

Perhaps I love it because of how strongly I know it to be true.

When people say “social media”, other people tend to think of social media networking sites such as GooglePlus, Facebook, and Twitter.

Although using those sites to generate leads does have some positive benefit, that positive benefit is dwarfed by the lead generating abilities of a well-done blog.

Of course, when we do something like a serious business activity, we give it a professional sounding name.

So we call it Inbound Marketing, rather than business blogging.

Why are business blogs so effective at generating leads?

Because business blogs (excuse me, I mean Inbound Marketing) attracts YOUR audience to YOUR website via ORGANIC SEARCH.

In a very little sense, THEY FIND YOU!!!

It doesn’t get any better than that.

Your audience, on your website, interacting directly with you in ways that are incredibly measurable.

None of the social media networking sites ever even come close in their abilities to generate quality leads for your business.

After you effectively “wind up” your website into a lead generating web site, those other websites will no longer seem worth caring about.
