Effective Call to Action Buttons Are Critical
I’m one of those people who do ten to think a good call to action (CTA) button is easy to design, but a recent post on designyourway.net does make some very valid posts.
Their main point is it must be distinctive and stand out.
The way I say that is the Call to Action must be clear and obvious, and although the buttons I put on my site aren’t nearly as colorful as the buttons they put on their site, as you can see at the bottom of this post, my button is pretty hard to miss.
The main reason I’m commenting on their post is I believe they left off some really important information which I will expand upon here.
Your Calls to Action is One Step of Your Website Conversion
A single Call to Action button implements a single step in your website conversion process.
For some businesses and some websites that is enough.
You put a CTA button at the bottom of every blog post and what action does it suggest?
That depends upon your specific sales funnel which in turn depends on the decision process your prospects go through in the course of becoming your clients.
I’ll use me as a good example. When people hire me for Inbound Marketing consulting, they first need to validate that Inbound Marketing makes sense. That Inbound Marketing is a quality way of generating leads. They next need to validate that I know how to do it.
So for me, the following website conversion process makes sense:
Blog post -> Case Studies -> Contact Us
Not that I do this on every blog post, but I probably should.
