Pointing to? No.
In fact quite the opposite.
Moz just released their bi-annual Search Engine Ranking Study where they correlate various factors to high ranking websites.
The second highest correlation with a high search ranking was the number of unique IP addresses that link to a web page.
The correlation for that factor was 0.31.
While IP addresses are not domains, there is a strong relationship between them.
The only higher correlated factor was Page Authority, at 0.37. So what is Page Authority?
Page Authority is a Moz term, not a Google term, and Moz provides a definition of Page Authority on their website. Below I provide the last sentence from that webpage.
The best way to influence this metric is to improve your overall SEO. In particular, you should focus on your link profile—which influences MozRank and MozTrust—by getting more links from other well-linked-to pages.
That advise takes us back to the importance of links, which is what I assume the person asking the question meant when they asked about “pointing to”.
The single best thing you can do to boost the ranking of your website to Google (and the other search engines) is to obtain links to the pages on your site from other websites. The more the better, and the high authority of the websites the better.
