A prior post explains what bounce rate is and why you should care. This post provides suggestions on how to decrease it.
Although there is no end to the number of suggestions people will give on how to reduce your bounce rate, I wish to focus on only a few. These few in and of themselves will do the trick.
Within the Inbound Marketing industry, there is an idea of “turning the page”. This is when someone lands on one page of your website and before they leave they click thru to read another.
There are two primary things you can do to increase your page turns, which is what decreases your bounce rate:
- Write posts in series where there is one post that links to all the other posts, each of which links back to the main post. This post is part of a series titled “The ABCs of Inbound Marketing”.
- Write posts in the format of part 1 and part 2 and link them to each other.
Those two simple strategies will decrease your bounce rate and increase your search ranking.
