Clients and students has stressed over and over about choosing a good domain name.

Contrary to what others say, from a search perspective, what domain name you choose does not matter.

Your domain name is no longer a search signal.

What is most important is that your domain name is easy to remember and easy to spell. It turns out names like Yahoo and Google and excellent domain names. Who knew?

If what you’re branding is yourself, consider using your name.

Having said this, every part of your URL other than your domain name does have an impact on search.

So once you pick a domain name that is easy to remember and easy to spell, put your energies into selecting good categories, setting your permalink structures such that the categories are part of the URL, and choosing good slugs (file names) for your posts.

This is a much more fruitful use of your time and energy.
