Getting Started with Prospect Engine

How Website Niches work

Website niches are a way to categorize a list of URLs within an arbitrary label that provides a broad description of the types of websites you're looking to obtain links from.

They are not necessarily identical to search queries, but could be.

This video shows you what they are, how you set them, and how you use them.

Importing files containing URLs

You load your lists of URLs into Prospect Engine by uploading a CSV file that contains one column that lists the URLs.

This video shows you how.

How Query Credits work

Prospect Engine makes use of external services to obtain details about domains, social media shares, and to obtain email addresses.

These services charge for the data they provide.

To fairly allocate those costs, Prospect Engine users buy Query Credits (1,000 of which costs $1.00) and they're used up as you run queries.

While they are very cheap, it is felt necessary to fairly allocate costs based on usage.

For this reason, we created the concept of Query Credits

Setting the From Gmail address

You should (maybe must) use an gmail account for Prospect Engine you use for no other purpose.

Prospect Engine works with gmail, and you can use a regular "" address to send email from a "branded" email address within your domain.

This video shows you how to setup the Sender or From email address within Prospect Engine.

Login to Google before starting

This video explains how you should first login to your Google account before you start prospecting.

Prospect Engine sends email via gmail using the specified gmail account, and when you login to that gmail account in advance, it helps.

It is NOT essential this step be taken before you start prospecting, but if don't, Prospect Engine will prompt you to login to a gmail account, and you COULD accidently login to the wrong gmail account.

Adding a Team Member

This video explains how you must first login to your Google account before you start prospecting.

Prospect Engine sends email via gmail using whatever gmail account you're currently logged into.

So for Prospect Engine to send email from the gmail account you want, you MUST login to Google using that account before you start prospecting.

Finding a person's email address

Within Prospect Engine, you can find the email address of a single person.

You do this by

- finding the LinkedIn profile of the company

- then looking through all the people on LinkedIn who work at that company

- finding the desired person

- then entering their email address into the Find Email Addr function within Prospect Engine.

Prospect Engine will then look up their email address, and return it if it is known.

Reviewing previously accepted URLs

Within Prospect Engine, you can accept and reject URLs without attempting to find email addresses or send pitches.

You can then come back later and find email addresses and send pitches by selecting the button View Accepted URLs

Creating CSVs from SERPs

We provide a free tool on our website that makes it easy to turns SERPs into CSV files, in batches of 100 URLs per CSV file.

This tool makes use of the SEOquake browser extension, and requires you to change a Google Search setting to return 100 URLs per SERP.

This video shows you set this up, and how you use this.
