Content marketing is the act of getting your message heard. A big piece of this is the importance of a great headline.

Headlines can be hard to work on. Some writers spend as much time on their headlines as they do on the article itself.

A great article is not valuable if people don ‘t read it, and people have way too much to read these days.. Headlines are what people use to judge if they should read the article, or not.

When it comes to Search Engine Optimization, your headlines needs to grab the attention of a search engine.

From an SEO perspective, what makes a great headline is that it fills the available space (is 55 to 70 characters long), contains words the people use in search queries, and that no word is used more than once (when you use a word twice, you give up the opportunity to have included a different word).

From a human perspective, the criteria is different.

  • Snappy.

Successful headlines are also easily understood by your target audience. By this I mean that your audience need to instantly tell what your story is about from the headline.
