Blogging for business (aka Inbound Marketing) is mostly about publishing

How can I maintain my blog to get real traffic?

To rank your website, you need to become a publisher.

This is the part some people don’t want to hear.

Search Ranking Success is All About Publishing

The four major success principals to attracting high levels of traffic via organic search are:

Quantity

In general (for every rule I state there are exceptions, but in general) websites with more content tend to rank higher.

Quality

Publish good stuff. Stuff that real people find to be useful, or at least desirable (celebrity gossip is really popular, but is it useful?).

Consistency

Publish frequently, as in multiple times a day. This is not as intimidating as it sounds as most of the posts you publish should be short. 200 to 300 words and answer one question or make one point.

Longevity

Keep at it. It doesn’t happen over night.

Technical SEO Matters

Everything you publish must be formatted well for technical SEO, which includes your website overall as well as each individual blog post.

However…. by using WordPress you can avoiding knowing all the technical details of SEO. Install the right set of plugins, configure them well, set a few system settings right, and you’re good to go.

Why Most People Fail

Simply put, it’s because they don’t do the work.

They don’t hit publish often enough.
