The need of a well-organized presentation with a clear objective

Businesses (large and small) need to tell a story to engage their audience. They need to be informative and persuasive depending on their desired goals and objectives.

The basics are the same: you need a well-organized presentation, with a clear objective, and a good story in which to share it.

The following are some lessons to learn about coming up with a clear and effective presentation.

Storyline

What are you trying to say on your presentation? Create a story with a clear beginning, middle, and end. When possible use elements from The Hero’s Journey (sometimes this is hard in business presentations) as for whatever reason that format really resonates with us.

Most importantly, before you create your presentation, create a story board in which you can think through the arc or outline of the story before filling in the details.

Make it easy

When coming up with your presentation, make them simple. Pretend you are explaining things to a child.

Consider your images

Images are essential elements of presentations. Color is also important.

The images tend to stick in our minds more than the words.

Make sure your images support your words in a way that they are able to help you say something visually.

Most importantly check on your content

Your words, images and your sound must complement each other and fit well into the overall arc of your story.

Your presentation text should be bullet points at most. Never “just” read from a slide.

Check on your content vocabulary and grammar in respect to your audience.

Crafting an effeftive presentation can be really hard but that’s not what’s important.

What matters is what people hear.

You need to figure out how you will get your message into your marketing space. For example, for you to make an online presentation, you must notify your audience early. Persuade them to schedule some time for your presentation and ideally make it available on demand so when people are ready to see it they don’t have to wait.
