How to effectively increase your social media followers

Today your credibility online is directly related to your social media presence.

Having one or two social media accounts in generally enough for most small businesses to keep in touch with their customers and prospects. Just be careful to pick the one or two (or three) where your desired audience hangs out. Which ones that might be depend on what you sell and who you sell it to.

Social media networks are essential marketing tools for business. It’s useful to think of your social media accounts as an extension of your business blog. Done right it’s a means of sharing your content with an interested audience.

By following some basic social media principles and strategies, you are able to increase your social media followers.

In this article we will discuss the basic strategies to rapidly grow your social media

Participate in social media discussions, but don’t dominate them. There is such a thing as a social media spammer. Don’t be one of them.

Leverage influential and well connected people where you can. You can learn who these people are with some social media analytics. For example, Twitter analytics shows you how many followers your better connected followers have. Once you know this, think about some way to get their attention without being pushy.

Put social share buttons on each blog post and remember that your post must be original and relevant.

Create business accounts/pages where you can and automate the sending of blog posts to those business accounts/pages. But NEVER automation the sending of blog posts to your personal accounts, unless your personal account is only used for business in which case it’s really a business account. There are good WordPress plugins that make this easy.

 

Social media marketing for small businesses works. The results of social media marketing are measured be the number of fans, followers, and shares.

Be consistent with this and over time learn what your audience really wants.
