To Be Heard, Explain How You Solve a Big Problem in a Simple Way

Getting the attention of your desired audience online is not easy. We’re all bombarded with messages every day. Email, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. It’s too many and it’s hard to keep up.

I know it’s easier said than done, but if you want people to pay attention to what you’re saying, explain to them how you solve a big problem in a simple way.

I know I say that rather casually and make it sound easy and I know it’s not easy, but before you can figure out how you explain this it helps to realize that you need to.

I’ll use as an example a seemingly shy 13 year old boy from Kenya who was invited to give a TED Talk and was given a standing ovation.

He got a standing ovation because what he said was truly meaningful.

If that video made you think you don’t have an equivalent story, you’ve haven’t thought about your story enough.

And if you have thought about your story a lot and you can’t figure out how to fit it into such a narrative, you’re not necessarily doing anything wrong, you’re just not doing anything better. You’re just like the other guys filling the Internet with the same old stories.

I’ll use myself as an example, and I freely confess my story did not come to me right away. It took about a year of experimenting with “packaging”.
