Tips on how to create engaging email content for businesses

Building a relationship with your customers takes time, but the payoff down the road is huge.

Email is a tool to help you do just that.

As a small business, you know this even if you don’t think of it often. You get emails from businesses, some of which you pay attention to.

The following are tips to make your emails stand out and build a stronger relationship with your customers.

Title

You don’t get a second chance of make a first impression. Your title should catch their attention if you have hope of them opening and reading your email.

Value

Say something useful. Provide good information. If “it’s” been said a thousand times before, don’t say it. Say something else instead.

In today’s hyper connected world, information and education helps you sell.

Personalization

Your potential customers should be at the center of your conversions and personalization helps you achieve these.

You achieve personalization in a variety of ways:

  1. Segment your list so people with different interests get different emails.
  2. Implement marketing automation so the email series they receive is triggered by an event they did (such as download an eBook or register to watch a video), and then adjusts (through if-then statements) to what they did and did not read and what actions they did and did not take.

Honesty

Honesty for small businesses is precious.

When telling out your story to your customers or when you are demonstrating the values of your small business, be honest. If you promise to send one email per week to your subscriber, then make sure you do that.

By being open with what you to offer and what you want from your visitors in return helps you position your business as reliable.

And always remember that if you promise something to them, please fulfill the promise. Doing this helps you build trust with your customers, and make them prioritize your emails.

In conclusion, turning your emails into conversation help you increase email engagement with your potential customers.
