While it’s true getting found online requires publishing a steady stream of content to your website, the Internet is awash in crap content, and crap content not only doesn’t help your SEO efforts, it hurts.
Think a minute about Google’s business model. They sell advertising. Brands are sold access to the people to who their search engine. So in the same way that TV networks have an incentive to create good content, Google has an incentive to present good content in their search results.
If they fail to do so, their audience will shrink, as will the advertising revenues.
Creating more content does not necessarily result in a better content marketing strategy. Creating more content is important for search engine optimization but creating USEFUL content is something that you must consider with your content marketing strategy.
As much as you create more and more content, make sure that every piece that you create has some positive impact on your audience. Every piece should at least answer one question or make one main point. At least. If it fails to do so, you’re publishing crap.
In this post, I am focusing on how to create better content.
