Maintaining a successful small business is difficult and requires complicated marketing strategies (I thought I would mention it in case you were not already convinced).

Running a small business is complex and time consuming because you have to wear many hats, from day to day operations to marketing.

Small business owners often “do” marketing when they have time to get to it, but this belies it’s importance.

A business without a steady stream of quality leads does not stay in business.

You need to find a way to keep you and your business top of mind, with (and excuse me because everyone says this) maximum benefit and minimum effort.

Small business Marketing automation is email marketing on steroids. By on steroids I mean you have the ability to create fairly complex if then statements where the marketing automation system tracks not only when email’s are opened, but who takes the suggested actions the email suggests.

You do this with a combination of content (pages on your website containing text, videos, images, etc) and emails that direct people to this content.

The aim of marketing automation is to give a prospect a customized experienced based on what email’s they respond to and what content they access.

When used effectively, marketing automation gives you as a small business the ability to walk prospects through their buying decision process (your sales funnel) without you having to be “present” at every step.

You do spend a fair amount of time creating the content, creating the emails, and tying them together with the if then conditions, but once it’s setup it runs without human involvement. That is why it’s called “automation”. It automates routine marketing tasks of following up with prospects.

Marketing automation is user friendly for those who are not technically of a mind. Programming is not required. Most applications are set up with editors that are easy to use, guides, etc.
