Small business sales process is a step by step process where small business owners meet people from the lead stage to being a customers and a repeate customer.

So who is a Lead? This is a person who is: 1) aware of your small business, 2) is in need of a product or service that you can provide to them, and 3) has provided contact information for you to follow up with them in some way.

Prospects are everyone in one big group, whereas leads are people from within the group of prospects whom you can follow up with.

Qualified leads are leads that meet certain qualifications to becoming your business customers.

A few simple criteria are:

  1. How ready are they to buy?
  2. Can they afford it?

Customers are people who have made a purchase from your small business.

Take their decision process into account.

Sell the benefit of the benefits.
