An autoresponder is simply a sequence of email content delivered to people who subscribes to an email list.

The sequence is triggered by some event. For example it might start when someone downloads an eBook.

The emails get delivered in a certain sequence. For example one might go out every 3 days. The aim to develop a strong relationship with your subscribers.

An autoresponder is basically providing content to your audience, so producing relevant and interactive content is something to keep in mind when creating your autoresponder campaign.

So how can you create an autoresponder that is advantageous to you?

When creating your autoresponder for your small business, focus on the audience. Determine what your subscriber need and what problems they have for which you can provide a solution.  Talking about them (rather than about you) is much more engaging for them.

Make it personal

You need to know that your email will be talking to one person. Don’t think of a subscriber as a number. Include a salutation, write casually and use abbreviations.

Use language you would use a friend. Sound like you are writing a personal email and not a press release.

Show the benefits of your product

Your email content should not “just” talk about your product or services but you do need to tell your audience that you can help them.

In doing so focus on benefits, not features.

For example will they save money? Will they lose weight? Will their car run better?

Call to action button

Always add a call to action button. Make it simple, hard to miss, and clear on what you want your audience to do.

For example to click on a certain link or download an eBook.

Respond

The primary purpose of creating or writing an autoresponder is to build a strong relationship with your audience. So when they respond to your email, always respond back on time.
