Getting started with link building. How to drive traffic to your site

Link building means working to increase the number of links pointing to the content on your website. Link building is a big part of Search Engine Optimization.

The “popularity vote” aspect of the Google search algorithm is no longer the one and only search signal, but it’s still incredibly important.

Search engines for example Google measures the relevance of a website using number of links back to that website, along with the quality of those links.

Driving traffic to your website includes putting efforts into attracting links to your website. I refer to this as “networking” and it’s different from face to face networking at business functions only in that it occurs over the Internet.

It is still about people more than links.

Getting their interest is part of your Search Engine Optimization effort.

Understand that the most effective method of link building is: 1) providing relevant on your site, and 2) helping spread the word through online networking (social media for example).

Try your very best to post at least one nice piece of content on your website every day. Even a short article often will be of help, provided it is giving out useful information to your customers.

After creating content on your website, share your content on social media networks. By doing this, other people will be exposed to your content and have an opportunity to link to it.

Link building helps you build relationships with other professionals in the market.

What should you know?

You should know that link building campaigns needs  time, time for creating content, time to reach people on social media networks, and time to start working.

But the payoff is enormous.
