If you have a business. you manage a sales funnel.
You may not know what your sales funnel looks like, but it’s there.
Effective? Needs improvement?
Is your sales funnel effective? How effedctive? Those are big question you need to ask yourself.
In online marketing, a lot of prospects get lost in sales funnels.
Many business owners assume you hire someone to setup a sales funnel, lead generation is easy, then your sales funnel runs on auto pilot.
Successful sales funnel need good planning, continuous testing, and incremental improvementsl
The following are some of the most common mistakes online marketers make with their sales funnel.
Too many steps, not enough steps
Prospects are willing to do only what they are willing to do.
If your landing page says “Click here to spend $20,000 on a great new whatever” your conversion will probably be very poor. That’s too big a step for most people.
On the other hand if you have 12 step sales funnel to sell an item that costs $19.95 you’ll lose people because you have too many steps.
The right number of steps has to do with how your customer decide to become your customers. If you don’t know this you need to talk to customers to find out.
Not getting enough people into your sales funnel
It’s called a sales funnel because you lose people at every step. It gets narrower (hence the “funnel”).
You improve your number of customer by incremental improvements in conversion at the various steps of your funnel, but you also get more customers by dropping more leads into the top.
You don’t close sale
Always be closing, but always be closing to the next step.
And don’t be afraid to ask for the business. The worst thing that can happen is they’ll say no.
Audit your sales process. Document your sales funnel. Measure conversion at every step (including dropping leads into the top). That old saying of “If you don’t measure it you can’t manage it” rings true here.
