I’m Kevin Carney of Inbound Marketing University and today’s Inbound Marketing Minute gives a very high level overview of video / YouTube marketing and the beneficial effect it has on organic search traffic.
The main concept here is you get a double whammy with using YouTube as a mechanism of attracting website visitors through organic search.
The reason is two fold.
One is YouTube is the second most used search engine on the planet, so simply putting videos out there, whose descriptions contain appropriate keywords, will attract people to your YouTube channel.
However additionally you embed the YouTube video into a blog post and the words of the blog post are a transcription of the video.
So you have the video on YouTube, which you also in the description you link back to your website.
And on the video on YouTube you have a description in a paragraph or two of what the video is about.
And then on your website you embed the video into a blog post. The video itself links back to the video because it’s embedded and you have a full transcription of the video on your blog site.
Thereby making that video accessible to people who are searching both on YouTube and on Google.
And that’s the double whammy.
When you consistently publish interesting and useful videos on your YouTube Channel, you’ll be surprised how quickly they will rank and how some of them will be picked up by other people and start appearing on websites that you don’t own.
