How to create mobile friendly emails for small businesses

Mobile access to email is getting bigger and bigger. More emails are now opened on mobile devices than on desktops.

Yet many small businesses do not ensure their email’s are mobile friendly.

This is a problem for them. Going mobile needs to be part of everyone’s email marketing strategy.

The following are some tips that small businesses can implement to get more from email friendly strategy.

Create short emails

Many people spend very few seconds with each email. Optimize your emails for a short time read to encourage your subscribers who use their phones to open and read your emails. Consider breaking your themes into a series of short emails to catch the attention of your readers.

The inverted pyramid

This is a journalism technique of getting to the point right away, then supporting your statement with appropriate details.

Short subject lines

For mobile emails, 30 character count is the best. Highlight the most important information for your readers to get the basics before getting to the mail. Remember that short messages go hand in hand with short but strong subject lines.

Mind your email font size for mobile users

Tiny font size punishes people for trying to read it.

Use at least font 16 for body text and 22 for subject headlines to make your copy read and information passed.

Clickable call to actions

Make your action button in your emails easy to click. Mind the position and the design of the action buttons.
