From my recent post on how inbound marketing strategies can make you a better outbound marketer, I discussed how email marketing helps close leads you attract via Inbound Marketing.
With email marketing, I humbly beg you never to purchase any kind of list as it will totally kill your efforts. You will be marked as a spammer after which the bulk of the email you send will be delivered to the SPAM folders of the people you send email to.
Email campaigns are a great way to draw attention to your business website, specific blog posts, keep in touch with large segments of your potential customer base, and also it helps you to demonstrate thought leadership in your industry.
What entails a successful email marketing strategy?
The following are some email marketing elements to make you successful.
Thoroughly scrub your email list. Make it up to date.
Avoid getting into trouble by updating your email list often. There is no need whatsoever to send email to inactive addresses of people who are no longer interested with what your company offers.
Therefore, take time periodically to clean up your contact list to remove bad contacts.
Get a decent editor
Just as getting a good content writer is important to your business, getting a decent editor is also significant. Sending emails that is poor in grammar will get you into trouble.
Get one person or two with a good command of the English language to proof your emails before you send them.
Segment your list by your buyer’s personas
Not every piece of content is great for every contact in your list. Segmentation will help you send email effectively and people are more likely to respond to email that concerns them.
Use a relevant calls to action (CTAs)
Give your readers something to click on and lead them to the next step in their buyer’s journey. Use CTAs that fit the content of your email.
