How to and where to gate your content

How to go about content gating strategy for small businesses

Many small businesses don’t gate content to generate leads. They want their content to be shared far and wide with no forms to hinder access.

Ungated content tends to be shared more

There is evidence that ungated content is downloaded more often than gated content.

But this doesn’t generate leads.

To make sales you need leads and when you provide ungated content you share ideas with people.

But you don’t get their contact information. They don’t become leads.

If you believe you need to generate leads to make sales, you need to provide some high quality gated content.

OK. How? Where?

Focus on quality than quantity. Your gated content needs to be excellent.

There are various places you can put the gate.

The gate can be before the content, during the content, or after generating a report, but before delivering it.

eBook and White Papers

Put the gate before the content. Upon filling out the form, they get access to the eBook.

Videos

With some software packages, you can insert quizzes into your videos. This can be used to capture leads.

Quizzes

Another strategy is to collect quiz answers, then display a lead capture page before delivering results.

Conclusion

Put a little thought into this and do some testing, but bottom line….. gated content converts visitors into leads.
